Level II - - Prerequisite of level I required (or certified D.T. Instructor).
There is a mandatory physical fitness test that each applicant must successfully pass in order to be accepted. The Level II course is an advanced level of training that will increase your basic skills and propel you to a higher level of understanding and ability in all three facets of defense/offense, including:
- Standing (striking, grappling and non-firearm weapon use)
- Ground (striking, grappling and non-firearm weapon use)
- Transitions (take-downs and the process of proceeding from one to the other)
This course will drastically enhance any Academy D.T. Program and In-Service Training.

Police Knife I- Pocket Knife Carry and Defense for the Public Safety Officer.
Most officers carry a pocket knife. Knives are one of the best backup weapons an officer can carry. This course explores hand-to-hand combatics training involving the carry and use of pocket knives. This class focuses on the Deadly Force scenario of an officer being attacked by a motivated, violent and powerful assailant who has committed themselves to killing the public safety officer. Knife use during a grappling situation (standing or ground) is the main area of focus for this course. Use of force policy options are discussed, and terminology of techniques are defined and outlined in the training manual.
