Inadequacy of Stand-up, Ground and the Transitions:
Another inadequacy of these programs is the lack of both standup and ground principles and techniques as well as the necessary transitions between the two. Failing to teach all three aspects of combat would be irresponsible. Some programs offer various tiers or levels of training. In these systems, grappling and ground fighting techniques are only taught in a higher "tier" or advanced training class. This requires departments to buy into a magnitude of training classes so that their instructors may finally receive knowledge of grappling and ground fighting techniques.
